I hope those who attended the annual Haunted House event had a lot of fun. Pictures of all the events APALSA have held this fall will be posted shortly. In the meantime, check out the upcoming events below:

Monday, Nov 2, at 6:30 PM. Room G1.
We’ll be having a General Body Meeting to start signing up for conference committees. Please come to sign up, enjoy some food, and catch up with other APALSA members.

Monday Nov 2, at 7PM. Room G1
Right after the sign ups, we’ll be having our rescheduled Academic Panel at 7PM to discuss outlining strategies, etc.

Thursday Nov 5, 3PM, G214
We’re banding together with several other groups to have a career panel about summer jobs after 1L year. Please join us for some food and info.

Tentative: Exam Panel, Nov 19, 3PM.
Since one study session isn’t enough, there is talk of another exam panel for later in Nov. with the other student groups. More info coming.

Also, if you are a dues-paying member, I will be sending out an email shortly providing how to access APALSA’s exclusive outline bank!

WELCOME! SEPTEMBER’S UPCOMING EVENTS

The APALSA Board is very excited for the new academic year! We would like to invite you all to some of our upcoming events:

1. We will be having our annual welcome dinner at Sang Kee this Saturday (September 19) at 6:30PM. It was a ton of fun last year as we had an open bar, a banquet style dinner and got to meet lots of APALSA members. RSVP to yoonjeekim@law.upenn.edu.

2. We will also be looking for 1ls and LLMs to join us as representatives on our board. This is your chance to get a little bit more involved in APALSA, bring ideas to the board and did I mention dinner meetings? Applications will be due on September 30th.

3. Our first general meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, Sept 23rd at 6:30PM. We will serve some yummy dinner.

4. APALSA Families–in the past we’ve paired 1Ls to upperclassmen mentors, but this year, we’re going to go a step further and make quartets of 2 mentors to 2 mentees so email Yoonjee (yoonjee@gmail.com) if you’re interested in getting not one, but TWO APALSA mentees (aka resource for outlines, advice, support, etc.)

5. The International Programs Reception is tomorrow (Wed.( in the Levy Conference Center. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Dress is casual (whatever you would wear to class is fine). At this event, several international student groups will speak, as well as Professor Eric Feldman, Vice Dean of International Programs here at Penn Law and Amy Gadsden our Associate Dean for International Programs.

We look forward to seeing you all at dinner this Saturday! Please do not hesitate to email me or any other board member if you have any questions.

The Eighth Annual Mid-Atlantic APALSA Conference will be held at the University of Pennsylvania Law School on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 11AM to 6PM. Please join us as we reexamine the Asian American identity in the law through speaker panels and innovative workshops. Being a 1L Rep is a great way to become more involved with APALSA. You attend all e-board meetings; help to plan and organize activities; and of course, voice the opinions of your fellow 1Ls. Getting to know the ins-and-outs of APALSA (as well as the fun e-board) are added bonuses. Those thinking about joining the e-board as a 2L or 3L are strongly encouraged to apply.

What better way to usher in the new school year than a night filled with a ten-course banquet, tasty drinks, and good company? APALSA’s Welcome Dinner will be hosted at Sang Kee Peking Duck House (238 N 9th St, by the corner of Winter Street and 9th Street, just south of the expressway). (Yelp)
